Rolex Explorer 2 Mk5 Dial 1655

The reference 1655 Explorer 2 is one of the coolest and maybe underrated vintage Rolex sports watches in today’s market. Originally developed for use by cave explorers, the fixed bezel allows the wearer to accurately tell 24-hour time. This example has an original Mk5 dial in flawless condition. The Mk 4 Bezel is also in nice and original condition. These watches are known in Italian as ‘Il Freccione’, which means big arrow – referring to the orange 24hr hand. On this watch the orange hand has faded to an almost yellow hue. The tritium lume on the hour plots matches the hands perfectly, the orange hand has a light crack in the lume and a nice rich off white patina that lends the watch a perfect vintage vibe. The bracelet is in good condition with minimal stretch.  The watch has been fully serviced by our watchmaker and will come with a strap of your choice from our web shop*.
