The Inside Story

The Daytona needs no introduction as an important part of the Rolex story and maybe one of the most successful chronographs ever. Some of our favourites are the Zenith-era Daytonas that ran from 1988 to 2000.

We love the small details that make these watches so collectible, such as this watch from the last run of 16520s with tritium dials featuring a the Mk5 dial.

We are delighted to offer this black dial version dating to 1995 in beautiful original condition. The case is good as is the bezel. The Mk5 dial is lovely and has tritium lume and the ‘6’ in the hours register, on the bottom sub dial, is the correct way up. The subdials are turning to a soft beige colour, nowadays often being referred to as "Patrizzi" dials.

The splash of red for DAYTONA completes this iconic watch. The original and correct solid link Oyster bracelet, ref 78390, is in great condition with a clasp stamped ‘V 4’ and 503b endlinks, with two spare links. The watch comes with inner and outer boxes, card holder, booklet, calendar and punched papers stating a 1996 sale at Wempe Germany. The watch has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.

Is this the Daytona that you have been looking for? Get in touch to discuss this and all the others we have in stock. We got you!
