This is a very rare and interesting vintage Sub and like with all things vintage Rolex, it’s all in the details.
We love finding rare gems like this and as we keep saying – it’s not easy any more! This incredible No Date Sub houses a stunning dial that is still nice glossy and the hours have taken on a yellow hue. The dial feature two important features – an underline, that in this case is on the upper half of the dial, and the word SWISS only on the bottom edge. The underline mark was used to signify lesser radioactivity in the luminous mixture on the hour plots, following the outlawing of Radium use. For a good while, the debate raged about what exactly the small line meant, but it is accepted that it was there to identify the safer nature of the lume mix. Read our article here.
Additionally, the presence of ‘Swiss’ only is a rare addition to these dials. The pointed-crown-guard case is still fat with strong lugs and crown guards. The bezel insert is awesome – it’s a fat font version that collectors call a Kissing 40. The bracelet is a rivet Oyster reference 7206 great condition with 80 endlinks and a clasp stamped ‘3 64’. The watch has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.Specifications:

Our Warranty
We offer a one-year warranty on the mechanical function of the watch, starting from the day of purchase. We do not guarantee the waterproof nature of any (vintage) watch, unless expressly made in writing. Therefore, our warranty will not cover any damage done to the case and/or movement by water or moisture entering the watch. Our warranty does not apply to accidental damage or mishandling of your watch and does not extend to the bracelet, case parts (including pushers, winding stem, crown and bezel), watch glass, dial and hands.
