The Inside Story

When the Speedy went auto…

The Speedmaster is mostly thought of as a manual wind watch, but in 1987 Omega released a rare automatic version, now known by collectors as the Holy Grail. Thought to exist in around 2000 pieces the watch has all the hallmarks of the classic chrono but with an automatic movement. The 42mm steel case is in fantastic condition and was made by Charles René Spielmann (CRS) who made the Daytona case too. The black dial is in good condition, with the original hands, and features a German day disc and the accompanying archive extract confirms that the watch was delivered to Germany in 1987 , as well the Red Omega box.The hour markers at 3,4, 5 and 6 have been relumed.

The watch has the original correct bezel, crown and pushers The crystal with built-in metal chapter ring that sits against the dial has a small Omega Logo. The reference 1450 steel bracelet has reference 809 endlinks and a quick release. The automatic movement has been fully checked and regulated by our watchmaker.
