PH’s matte beast SD…

In the early 1980s Rolex began using more robust sapphire crystals on their watches. Known as ‘transitional’ models, early example were fitted with matte dials – a lot like the dials in the plastic glass watches that had preceded them.

This transitional Seadweller is fitted with its original Mk2 matte dial (many were replaced at service with glossy dials) with a creamy patina on the hour plots that are a good match with the hand lume. The bezel inlayhas faded to a grey colour. The case is super strong with thick lugs.

We believe that this watch was originally owned by somebody with the initials PH, as these two letters are engraved between the lugs on both sides and also on the bracelet clasp. The solid link Oyster bracelet reference 93160 is in very good condition and has a clasp stamped ‘G’ and is fitted with solid endlinks reference 592. This cool Seadweller comes with a Rolex service card from November 2018 and a Rolex service pouch. The watch has been fully checked by our watchmaker and benefits from the remainder of the Rolex service warranty.
